Ann Hamilton: The Spaces of Reading

“The Spaces of Reading—object, image, word, event” details the work of artist Ann Hamilton and the course she taught as a visiting professor at SAIC. It was a privilege to collaborate with her and her studio.

My design is inspired by the temporal, commonplace quality of Hamilton’s art. I chose a newsprint-style paper and used the dimensions of a newspaper to add an “every day” feel to the piece. It is divided into two sections: a smaller section catalogs the course and includes photographs of course ephemera. The larger section shows off the work created by the students, paired with Hamilton’s own work, as well as an essay by artist and SAIC faculty member Matthew Goulish.

My role: publication design and print production
